[MobilePRwire] – LAVA Computer MFG (www.lavalink.com), today announced the release of the first in a line of Galaxy Tablet adapters that enable simultaneous charging and USB hosting. The adapter addresses a limitation in the stock USB Host Cable for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2: that when operating in USB Host Mode, the tablet cannot be charged.
“This adapter is the first of our upcoming line to support continuous powering and use of the Galaxy Tab and USB peripherals. You can now watch videos from a USB drive, attach a USB hub, communicate continually and reliably with a keyboard, mouse or a myriad of other USB devices, all without worrying about depleting power. Also, the Galaxy Tab 2 can now be used in more demanding applications that require hard-line connections such as Retail POS or even industrial control,” says Mark Winnicki, VP Sales.
By developing an intelligent junction box/cable, LAVA has made it possible to continue to charge the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 while operating in USB Host Mode (a variant of which is sometimes called “USB OTG”). The LAVA USB Host and Charging Adapter requires only a standard USB cable for a complete solution; it uses the supplied Samsung USB power supply (or equivalent) and requires no software to be run on the tablet.
